PURPOSE:To enhance coating efficiency while achieving the miniaturization of the apparatus and the conservation of energy, by arranging the rising and falling mechanism of a spray coating gun and the side part driving system of a left-and-right reciprocating mechanism in the state being housed in a casing outside a booth main body. CONSTITUTION:A large-size object W to be coated such as an automobile is moved in an up-and-down directions by a rising and falling mechanism 11 and moved in a left-and-right directions by a left-and-right reciprocating mechanism 17 to be coated by a coating gun 13. The driving system 15 of the left-and-right reciprocating mechanism 17 of the coating gun 13 and the rising and falling mechanism 11 are arranged outside the side wall 5 of a booth main body 1 along with casings 8, 9. By this constitution, the coating apparatus can be miniaturized by reducing the width of the booth main body 1 and coating efficiency can be enhanced while energy saving is realized. Further, the installations of the left-and-right reciprocating mechanism 17 and the rising and falling mechanism 11 unnecessitate the cleaning of contamination due to the adhesion of sprayed paint.
