PURPOSE:To permit simplification of an optical fiber connecting operation, shortening of working time and decrease of connection losses and to reduce the size of a device by maintaining the connected state of 1st and 2nd cores to each other by the pressing force of a spring member and screwing a pin contact into a socket contact. CONSTITUTION:The pin contact 32 and the socket contact 33 which constitute a connector when integrated to one body are used to connect two pieces of the optical fibers 31a, 31b to each other in the longitudinal direction. Splicing of the fibers is executed by screwing the pin contact 32 into the socket contact 33. A screw 34 contacts the front end of a pin sleeve 37 through a screw hole 36 and the sleeve 37 is pushed in the direction opposite from the screw hole 36 side by overcoming the pressing force of the spring member 38 when the screwing is progressed. The core 35a and core 35b are then connected in the state of maintaining an adequate contact pressure. The locking mechanism by the screw 34 and the screw hole 36 acts in this state and, therefore, the connection loss decreases and the simplification of the work is permitted.
