METHOD FOR MEASURING ACTIVITY OF LECITHIN CHOLESTEROL ACYLTRANSFERASE

PURPOSE:To rapidly measure lecithin cholesterol acyltransferase, by reacting lysophospholipase and glycerophosphocholine phosphodiesterase with the formed lysolecithin. CONSTITUTION:A test specimen is reacted with lecithin and free cholesterol in which an enzyme catalyzes reaction as a substrate. An enzymic reaction system forming lysolecithin and a cholesterol ester is used to form lysolecithin, which is then reacted with lysophospholipase and glycerophosphocholine diesterase. The amount of simultaneously or successively formed glycerol-3- phosphate is measured. Thereby the activity of lecithin cholesterol acyltransferase in the test specimen is measured with high sensitivity utilizing an enzymic cycling method.
