<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as a synthetic intermediate for prostaglandin, etc., at a low cost, by using an easily available carboxylic acid and a furan compound as raw materials and inexpensive boron trifluoride as a reaction assistant and reacting the components in a solvent in the presence of an acid anhydride. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound of formula IV can be produced by reacting (A) a carboxylic acid of formula I (R is 1-18C alkyl, 3-8C alkenyl, 3-8C alkynyl, 4-7C cycloalkyl, phenyl, etc.) with (B) a furan compound of formula II (R1 is H or 1-3C alkyl) in the presence of (C) an acid anhydride of formula III (X and Y are H, Cl or Br; both X and Y are not H at the same time) (e.g. chloroacetic anhydride) in a solvent (e.g. benzene) using boron trifluoride or a boron trifluoride complex as a catalyst preferably at 15-75 deg.C. The amount of the compound of formula II is preferably 1.2-1.5 equivalent based on the compound of formula I.</p> |
