PURPOSE:To polish or grind a curved-form work material in a highly accurate manner, by installing a devices which drives the work material to be rotatable around shaft orthogonal with the feed direction of a polishing tool. CONSTITUTION:When a polishing tool 41 is fed in the radial direction of a work material 25 by a feed gear, a support base 7 of the work material 25 is rotated as far as the specified angle via a drive motor 19 as a driving arm 9 is rotated by rotation of a driving gear 17. That is to say, the work material 25 is driven into rotation around a shaft orthogonal with a feed direction of the polishing tool 41. Therefore, since a tilt of the polishing tool 41 to a work surface of the work material 25 is not produced, stock removal is stabilized. And, a difference in surface pressure of the polishing tool 41 due to directional difference of the rocking motion is not produced even by rock of the polishing tool 41 so that the stock removal is made constant. That is, even in a position separating from the center of the work material 25, machining pressure can be made constant all the time, thus stable stock removal is secured, and highly accurate polishing is possible.
