PURPOSE:To get higher photoelectric efficiency and a longer lifetime of the battery in the caption by coating a light receiving surface with a carbon membrane including an electrically conductive diamond membrane. CONSTITUTION:A carbon membrane 24 including a diamond-structure is formed on the light receiving-surface 21A of the n-Si substrate 21 of a light receiving- part 20 to cut off direct contact between the substrate 21 at the light receiving- surface 21A and ions, etc., in electrolyte 13. The membrane 24 is formed as its thickness is 100-50000Angstrom . The excessive electrons l<-> of the substrate 21 are optically excited by radiating light 1 from a light receiving-window 14 to the light receiving part 20. The membrane 24 cuts off contact between such as oxygen or hydrogen ions, etc., in electrolyte 13 and the light receiving-surface 21A but allows electrons l<-> to pass through because it is doped in n-type. The light receiving surface 21A oxidized electrolyte 13 based on a difference of chemical potencial between the substrate 21 and electrolyte 13, increases hydrogen ions in electrolyte 13 and also generates an optical electromotive force. Energy of light 1 is photoelectrically converted and consumed by a resistor 19. |
