PURPOSE:To effect flocculation and sedimentation at low cost and discharge separated matters by using microparticle powder of calcium carbonate or crushed charcoal with a grain diameter of 0.05-0.01mm as a flocculant for water purification. CONSTITUTION:Microparticle powder of calcium carbonate or crushed charcoal with a grain size of 0.05-0.001mm is used as a flocculant for water purification. This microparticle powder has an extremely large surface area per unit weight, and has strong adsorptivity for stabilization of interfacial energy. Consequently, the sedimentation and filtration effects of the flocculant upon contaminants are promoted. This flocculant is low-priced compared with alum, PAC, polymer flocculants, etc. and the flocculated/sedimented matter is harmless, even if discharged directly.
