<p>A system is provided for processing at increased speeds a tractor-fed computer paper web (W), with nearly tensionless transport through web feeding units (B) and driving units (C) that are not speed-interdependent. For each processing cycle, the web (W) is extended without slack through an upstream lead (4) to a processing station where a certain length of the web (W) is positioned to be next processed, an excess length of loose web (6) is fed into that lead (4), forming a loop; then the certain web (W) length is processed and driven forward a distance shorter than the length of loose web (6); and then the web (W) is retracted from the upstream lead (4) to remove the residual loose web (6) and leave a next certain web length in position to be processed and delivered by way of refolding unit (D) into a pack (7) as a downstream lead of it is made slack by a web driven from the offset processing station (A).</p> |
