PURPOSE:To reduce manufacturing man-hours, weight, and oscillation noise of a rotary driving shaft preferable for the driving shaft of a vehicle by jointing a metal coupling member through a friction welding process to the end of a circular pipe shaft which is made of thermally unrefined high tensile low alloy steel of a specified composition. CONSTITUTION:This rotary driving shaft 1 is produced by jointing a metal coupling member 3 through a friction welding process to the end of a circular pipe shaft 2 which is made of thermally unrefined high tensile low alloy steel containing 0.05-0.2 wt.% of C, 0.1-0.4 wt.% of Si, 1.0-2.0 wt.% of Mn, 0.03-0.15 wt.% of Ti, 0.03-0.15 wt.% of V, 0.003-0.15 wt.% of Nb, 20-60 ppm of N, the remaining, that is, Fe and unavoidable impure materials. A damper body made of elastic material is press-fitted into the rotary driving shaft 1 so that the oscillation energy of the rotary driving shaft 1 is attenuated by means of the elastic hysteresis phenomenon of the damper body. In this case, particularly, it is very efficient to generally thin the wall thickness of the circular pipe shaft 2 and to increase the unit primary bending inherent frequency of oscillation thereof.
