PURPOSE:To prevent discharge of a malodor generated as a result of unburnt gas from a burner making contact with a high temperature heating part, by a method wherein, during extinguishing motion, a convection fan is run, and a feed fan is stopped. CONSTITUTION:Since, during extinguishment, a feed fan 26 stops and a convection fan 15 continues to operate, an air pressure in a hot air passage 12 is increased to a value higher than a pressures of burner 10 and a feed passage 11. Unburnt gas in a gasifying chamber 22 is not fed to a burner head 24, but is cooled as it reversely flows through the feed passage 11. When the burner 10 and a combustion cylinder 9 are fully cooled after the elapse of a given time, a motor 14 for convection stops. This constitution prevents unburnt gas in a burner from being discharged in a room together with hot air during extinguishment, permits the unburnt gas to be cooled in the feed passage 11, and enables prevention of discharge of a malodor to a room.
