In the reproduction of television signals in special operating modes, i.e. those in which the transporting speed of the magnetic tape during playback differs from that during recording, the dynamic angle of the magnetic heads with respect to the longitudinal direction of the magnetic tape deviates from the direction of the recorded tracks. In the case of magnetic tape units in which the guide device on the run-in side and the guide device on the run-out side lie closely next to each other, according to the invention the vertical adjustment is carried out by a single adjusting device which bears the lateral guides for the magnetic tape at the free ends of a two-armed lever.
