PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of visual perception for an instrument panel by folding the air bag of an air bag device provided on the boss section of a steering wheel in such a way that the height thereof from a horizontal plane including a suction opening is to be designed to be low on one side, while being designed to be high on the other side. CONSTITUTION:An air bag device 1 arranged onto the boss upper section of a steering wheel includes a gas charger 2 provided with gas discharging ports 2a on the upper section thereof and an air bag 3 which is formed into a roughly spherical shape when expanded. And a pad 6 covering the upper and side sections of the folded air bag 3 and provided with an easy-to-break thin wall section 6a on an upper wall 6A thereof, and a back-up plate 10 laid on the bottom circumference of the air bag 3 are also included. In this case, the air bag 3 is folded in such a way that its height from a horizontal plane provided with a suction opening 3a is designed to be low on the front side on the horizontal direction, while being designed to be high on the rear side across the suction opening 3a. And the upper wall 6A of the pad 6 is formed into the state of slant facing to the upper section of the air bag 3. |
