PURPOSE:To obtain a purging unit which has a simple structure and an easy operation by conducting the operations of approaching or escaping from the type head of a purging suction port, releasing the atmospheric pressure in a purging chamber, and wiping a printing head nozzle face by one motor without using an electric circuit by means of a mechanical sequence. CONSTITUTION:A frame 20, a reciprocating pump 15 of suction means, atmospheric pressure releasing valve 21 of recovering means, and a shaft 24 are driven through a transmission mechanism, such as gears, cams, etc. by one motor M at a set timing. A suction port 25 of the cap of a purging chamber 19 is operated at a timing for approaching to a head by an escaping cam 26. The valve 21 is first closed. Ink is sucked from the port 25 by the operation of the pump 15 in this state. After the pump is operated predetermined times, the valve 21 is opened by a cam 27 for the valve 21 to return the chamber 19 to the atmospheric pressure. After the chamber 19 is returned to the atmospheric pressure, the port 25 of the chamber 19 escapes from a type head by the cam 26. |
