PURPOSE:To accurately control stored information and to improve its usability by providing a control means which restores the stored information corresponding to specific retrieval information to stored information before processing even after the stored information is altered or deleted. CONSTITUTION:When the title of image information from an input device 13 and the image information from an image input device 3 are inputted, a controller 1 generates or updates respective control tables of numbers, titles, connection numbers, and pages as control information regarding the titles and image information, and a magnetic storage device 9 is stored with document numbers, connection numbers between the titles and documents, image numbers, page numbers, etc. Then when the key input for the processing of a multi-title separation function is generated, the respective control tables of the numbers, titles, and connection numbers are updated or generated and the values of the connection numbers of the page control table are varied, so that the multi-title separating function is carried out by read pieces of image information.
