PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for preheating of reagents and to shorten the time for heating up reaction liquids by covering the side faces, at least exclusive of optical faces, of respective reaction tubes disposed in a thermostatic chamber with a temp. atmosphere created by electrical heating elements having a self- temp. control function. CONSTITUTION:A reaction tube holding body 12 is formed of the electrical heating element such as, for example, positive thermistor ceramics, having the self-temp. control function and is so constituted as to contact the side faces and bases of the reaction tubes 11. The holding body 12 is heated to a prescribed temp. when a constant voltage of AC or DC is impressed to conductors 14a, 14b. The liquids in the tubes 11 are, therefore, held at the specified temp. and in addition, the liquids are quickly heated up to the specified temp. even when the liquids of the reagents, etc., subjected to cold retaining are dispensed into the reaction tubes. The time for heating up the reaction liquids are thereby shortened.
