PURPOSE:To attain practical processing speed without using an exclusive LSI of a large scale by using a computing element set on a finite matter to back up the arithmetic capacity of an inexpensive general-purpose microcomputer. CONSTITUTION:A computing element 4 which is set on a finite matter to perform the multiplication/division arithmetic and root acquiring arithmetic operations is connected to a microcomputer 3 via an input/output port 5. Thus a code error detecting device having a practical processing speed is obtained. Furthermore the element 4 can be obtained with use of a ROM of a small capacity and a gate array of a small scale and therefore can be transformed into an IC at a low cost. Ten an extremely inexpensive code error correcting device is obtained in combination with an inexpensive microcomputer.
