PURPOSE:To prepare a chitosan molded body having anion exchange capacity stable to an acid, by reacting glycidyl ether of aliphatic polyalcohol with a chitosan molded body before reacting dialkylamine therewith. CONSTITUTION:Low M.W. chitosan having average M.W. of 10,000-230,000 is dissolved in an aqueous solution of acetic acid, dichloroacetic acid or formic acid to prepare an acidic chitosan solution. When this acidic chitosan solution is allowed to fall in a basic coagulation bath by definite quantity under pressure, for example, from a nozzle having an orifice size of 0.1-0.25mmphi to obtain porous granular chitosan. Subsequently, this porous granular chitosan is reacted with glycidyl ether of aliphatic polyalcohol and subsequently reacted with dialkylamine. The porous granular chitosan after the finish of reaction is sufficiently washed to obtain a chitosan molded body having excellent anion exchange capacity.
