PURPOSE:To make a noncircular type inner circumferential surface grindable in use of a general machine tool, by installing plural axis slits on the outer circumference of a cylinder body in radial form looking from a plane view, and fitting a platelike polishing stone in the said slit free of movement in the radial direction. CONSTITUTION:A polishing device 5 is attached to a spindle 1 of a general machine tool or the like, situating it in almost the center of a noncircular type inner circumferential surface 3a of the workpiece 3 clamped onto a table 2, and the spindle 1 is rotated at high speed. If so, the platelike grinding stone 7 fitted in a radial slit 6a of a cylindrical body 6 is advanced out of the slit 6a by dint of centrifugal force, coming into contact with a machining inner circumference surface, whereby the stone 7 grind the inner circumferential surface 3a with proper contact pressure as advancing or retreating to or from the slit 6a automatically in the radial direction at the noncircular type inner circumferential surface 3a. Therefore, the noncircular inner circumferential surface 3a is very easily grindable without using a high-grade machine tool. |
