The invention relates to a heat engine, such as an internal combustion engine, comprising a plurality of cylinders 2, a plurality of injection pumps 8, at least one fuel injection pump being provided per cylinder, and an overall governor 11 of the rotational speed of the engine. Each injection pump 8 is provided with an individual member 9 for adjusting its delivery and with a device 10 for controlling the position of this individual member for adjusting the delivery, the various devices 10 for controlling the position of the said individual members for adjusting the delivery being independent of each other. One application is the production of an engine of the "diesel" type, having satisfactory smoothness of operation over a broad range of uses. <IMAGE>
