DERIVATIVES OF 9-CHLOROPREDNISOLONE

New derivatives of 9-chloroprednisolone of the formula (I) , in which R1 represents an alkanoyl group containing 1 to 8 carbon atoms or a benzoyl group and X represents a fluorine atom, a chlorine atom, a hydroxyl group, an alkanoyloxy group containing 1 to 8 carbon atoms or a benzoyloxy group which are systemically almost inactive, but that in topical use they surprisingly have a strong anti-inflammatory activity, which generally exceeds that of the most active commercial corticoids.
