CONSTITUTION:In a transmission controller 60, the car speed is calculated by the first control circuit 61 on the basis of the signals of the input/output shaft speed sensors 48 and 49 of a transmission 16 and the engine revolution speed sensor 47, and when the car speed exceeds a speed change point, control signals are outputted into the first - seventh speed change valves 31 - 37 and a lock-up selector valve 41, and speed change to the high speed or low speed speed change stage is performed. The second control circuit 62 calculates the deceleration speed according to the signals of an acceleration sensor 52 and an input shaft speed sensor 48, and when the signal of the high speed stage, e.g., forward seventh - fifth speed is input from the first control circuit 61, the slope ascending speed stage signal on the basis of the deceleration speed is obtained, and speed change is performed at once by the first control circuit 61. Therefore, a power transmission system is prevented from being applied with an excessive force, and durability and drive feeling can be improved.
