PURPOSE:To efficiently and uniformly heat steel materials without forming oxide scale by juxtaposing many pieces of hollow pipes to the concentrical circumference on the inner side of a cylindrical furnace wall body which turns horizontally and charging the steel material therein. CONSTITUTION:This device for heating the steel materials is constituted of the cylindrical furnace wall body 1 which is horizontally rotatably supported by rollers 5 and stationary furnace end wall 8, 9 provided with a burner 14 and a flue 15 connected to a recuperator 16. Many piece of the heat resistance hollow pipes 3, both ends of which are penetrated through collar parts 2, 2 of the aperture edges at both ends of the above-mentioned furnace wall body 1 are arrayed and fixed at fixed intervals on the concentrical circumference. While the furnace wall body 1 is turned by means of a worm 6 and rack gear 7, the steel materials are charged into the hollow pipes 3 through a charging port 17 and an ejection port 20 bored through the end walls 8, 9 by means of a pusher 19 and are taken out by means of an ejection chute 21. Intrusion of a waste combustion gas into the hollows 3 and formation of oxide scale on the steel products are thereby prevented.
