The invention relates to an outsole for sports shoes, in particular football boots, with studs which are formed on in the front sole region and heel region and which run in a conically tapered manner from the base to the tread surface and the base of which has an elongate cross-section in particular similar to an ellipse shape, the longitudinal axis of the studs mounted in the sole edge region running in the direction of the sole edge and the base of one or more of these surrounded inner studs running transversely to the longitudinal axis of the sole. This outsole (1) is characterised in that the tread surface (3) of the studs (2.1, 2.2) has an elongate shape running in the direction of the base (4) and in that the studs (2.1, 2.2) are arranged along the entire circumferential sole edge (6) with the exception of the region (7) of the inner side (8) of the foot arch and of the sole tip (9) (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
