PURPOSE:To mold a resin sheet by a molding machine by surely stretching said sheet to a horizontal state in a heated and softened state, by forcibly expanding the interval of a pair of two endless roller chains corresponding to the molding position thereof and tensioning the resin sheet at the expanded part. CONSTITUTION:A resin sheet S is clamped at both sides thereof by clamp pawls 11, 11' at the lower parts in the vicinity of the start ends of endless roller chains 10, 10' and intermittently moved by the rotation of drive rotary shafts 8, 8' to reach a heating position and further moved while softened under heating to reach the part above a molding machine 1 and stopped. Next, cylinders 14 ... are operated so as to be extended and the roller chains between chain wheels 6, 6 ' and a bifurcated link apparatus are loosened. Subsequently, cylinders 15... are operated so as to be contracted and the interval between the roller chains engaged with tensioning pawls 20... is widened to tension the resin sheet held by the clamp pawls. Next, vacuum sucking action is applied to the molding machine and the resin sheet is brought into close contact with the molding surface of the molding machine under suction to be molded into a desired shape.
