A working cylinder with three positions has an inner piston (9), two annular pistons (12, 13) supported opposite the cylinder housing, and three connecting bores (3, 4, 5), of which one (5) is located in the longitudinal centre of the cylinder housing and in each position is connected to the annular chamber (20) formed by the piston arrangement. A reduction in the installation length at the same stroke is achieved by the annular pistons (12, 13) projecting in the axial direction beyond the inner piston (9) in their end positions and by their housing seals (14) each being arranged at the projecting parts, while the parts facing one another are supported on the housing wall without being sealed and pass over the centre connecting bore (5) of the housing.
