Coating-glass composition

A coating-glass composition for the passivation of semiconductor elements, containing from 10 to 50% by weight of an inert willemite (zinc orthosilicate) powder which is mixed with a complementary amount of non-crystallizing lead silicate glass powder or lead boron silicate glass powder containing from 40 to 70% by weight of PbO. Use of the willemite powder together with the glass powder improves the coefficient of thermal expansion of the glass and protects, in an advantageous manner, a silicon semiconductor wafer against warping when the coating glass is applied to the wafer.
