PURPOSE:To provide a power distribution device for four-wheel drive car equipped with a central differential gear, wherein generation of braking phenomenon at tight corner is prevented and the mud getting-away characteristic is enhanced, by furnishing a transmission torque adjusting clutch between drive wheels and the drive shaft for front and rear wheels of the central differential gear. CONSTITUTION:In straight running, a clutch 8 is controlled according to the running condition with duty control of a solenoid valve 82 by a controller, and the transmission torque from the drive shafts of central differential gear CD to the front and rear wheel Fr, Rr is controlled arbitrarily. At the time of starting forward, for ex., major part of the torque is distributed to the rear wheel Rr. At the time of high-speed running, on the other hand, major part of the torque is given to the front wheel Fr. This constitution prevents generation of braking phenomenon at tight corner and enhances performance to get away from mud etc.
