PURPOSE:To obtain large force at the time of operation in a stored shape and to make an operation characteristic constant, by making a shape memory spring common to at least two or more contacts. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of contacts 3 are received in the contact chamber 2 of a connector housing 1 so as to form a row in the longitudinal direction. When a current is supplied to a heater 8 and a shape memory spring 4 of which the surface is covered with an insulating layer 7 is heated to 80 deg.C or more, the shape memory spring 4 returns to the stored shape and the mutual interval between a contact base part 3B and a contact spring part 3C is opened and a partener contact 9 can be inserted and pulled without requiring insertion and pull force. When the supply of a current to the heater 8 is stopped and temp. falls, for example, to about 50 deg.C, the shape memory spring 4 becomes soft and the spring force of each of the contacts overcomes that of the spring 4 and the contact spring part 3C is pulled back to the contact base part 3B and the partener contact is grasped under predetermined spring pressure.
