<p>PURPOSE:To prevent a light control element from generating unrequired light transmission or crosstalk by etching an area in the vicinity of a boundary between a part other than a light control part and the light control part to remove the area. CONSTITUTION:Areas other than pixels 7 in an optical shutter array (b) are usually independent of the mounting areas of counter electrodes 35, 36 and light control. Although the electrode mounting areas are made opaque areas by the electrodes 35, 36, areas 18 between adjacent pixels 7 are removed by etching. Since the areas 18 between respective pixels 7 in the crystal 34 are etched, no PLZT crystal exists in the areas 18 and optical modulation is not generated even if electric fields between both electrodes 35 and 36 are partially applied to the non-light control area 18. Thereby, the generation of unrequired light transmission or crosstalk can be prevented.</p> |
