PURPOSE:To increase the exhaust gas releasing speed from a top part of a chimney enclosed by a brick lining by a method wherein castable refractory member is fed into a spacing formed between an inner circumferential surface of the chimney and an outer circumferential surface of the brick lining. CONSTITUTION:Exhaust gas discharged from an incinerator through a chimney 12 is lifted up along a direction of arrow A in a chimney 11a, thereafter it is released from the top into the surrounding atmosphere. The amount of supplying of exhaust gas is always varied as property of the matters to be incinerated by an incinerator is varied. In this case, the exhaust gas immersed into the brick lining 13 is prevented from reaching the inner circumferential surface of the chimney by a castable refractory member 16 and heat is prevented by the castable refractory member 16 from reaching the inner circumferential surface of the chimney 11 from the brick lining 13, so that a discharging speed of the exhaust gas into the surrounding atmosphere is increased.
