PURPOSE:To produce AG55 having antitumor properties, by cultivating a microorganism, e.g. Streptomyces torulosus 1368-MT1 strain, etc., belonging to the genus Streptomyces and having the ability to produce the AG55. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism, e.g. Streptomyces torulosus 1368-MT1 strain (FERM-P No.9144), etc., belonging to the genus Streptomyces and having the ability to produce AG55 is aerobically cultivated in a suitable culture medium to collect the AG55, expressed by formula I and having antitumor properties. Sucrose is preferred as a carbon source in nutrient sources utilizable by the microorganism capable of producing the AG55. An yeast extract, molasses, casein, etc., can be used as a nitrogen source and inorganic salts, if necessary, can be added. The cultivation is optimally carried out by an aerobic submerged liquid cultivation method and the optimum cultivation temperature is about 27-30 deg.C. |
