DATA REPRODUCING APPARATUS

Re-formatting of digital magnetic tape, multi-track recordings, invariably is accompanied by static and dynamic deviations due to skew. This results in code errors and distortion of the restored analogue signal. This problem is solved with a write address generator where the address contains a frame of data bits and the generator is pre-set and cleared by a check pulse derived from a sync pulse within the frame. A circuit comprising a sinc. detector and counter generate the address in a memory in which blocks of data are entered and from which they are read. A memory control circuit ensures the correct read and write sequence timing.
