PURPOSE:To simplify the preparation of the position coordinate data corresponding to the rivet installation position by using a recording medium on which the pattern arrangement similar to the arrangement of the rivet to be installed onto a sheet material is recorded. CONSTITUTION:The locus corresponding to the rivet arrangement viewed from the head part side of a rivet to be installed onto a sheet material is drawn onto the upper surface of a recording medium. The coordinate position data corresponding to the rivet installation position on the locus of the recording medium is successively designated by operating means 114L-115F and 117. Then, on the basis of the designated coordinate position data, the rivet installation instruction for forming the rivet arrangement pattern which is obtained by reversing the designated rivet arrangement pattern on the recording medium is prepared. The prepared rivet installation instruction is memorized by a memory means 123, and the rivet is installation-arranged in conformity with the locus recorded on the recording medium, onto the lower part of the sheet material according to the rivet installation instruction.
