PURPOSE:To eliminate vaporizable substances adhering to the inner surface of the vessel to completely perform cleaning of the vessel by vacuum absorbing from an opening an inert gas contained in the vessel while gradually supplying the same from the far side to the rear side to the opening, in the cleaning of the vessel such as a vapor generator or the like. CONSTITUTION:Inert gas supply ports 9-12 are provided at some suitable positions of a vessel 1. Upon the vacuum absorption, a small amount of an inert gas is supplied into the vessel 1 successively from a port 9 on the side far from an opening 3 of the vessel 1 to a port 12 on the side near thereto through respective ports. By these procedures, the steady state is broken, and vaporizable substances 2 staying in a semi-equilibrium state are all absorbed by a vacuum device 5 together with the inert gas poured. The inert gas supply port can use a drain valve of the vapor generator.
