PURPOSE:To provide a titled photosensitive body having high sensitivity an excellent repetitive characteristics even in positive and negative electric charge by using specific azo compds. as an electric charge generating material of the photosensitive layer to be provided on a conductive substrate. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive layer contg. at least one kind of the azo compds. including the sexithiophene structure expressed by the formula I or II is provided. In the formulas, R1-R22 respectively denote a hydrogen atom, halogen atom, aryl group, aralkyl group, nitro group, cyano group, etc., N=N-A1 denotes a residual azo group, N=N-A2-N=N denotes a residual disazo group. The photosensitive body is formed by providing the photosensitive layer 21 consisting of the laminate of an electric charge generating layer 4 contg. the azo compds. which are the electric charge generating material 3 and an electric charge transfer layer 6 essentially consisting of an electric charge transfer material on, for example, a conductive substrate 1.
