PURPOSE:To obtain a high contrast image having high sensitivity and high covering power by incorporating surface latent image type silver halide particles, silver halide particles having internal fogging nuclei and one kind of a specified compd. into a photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer. CONSTITUTION:Surface latent image type silver halide particles, silver halide particles having internal fogging nuclei and at least one kind of compd. represented by the formula are incorporated into a photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer. A nonionic polyalkylene oxide compd. is further incorporated into the emulsion layer and/or a nonphotosensitive layer adjacent to the emulsion layer. In the formula, each of R1 and R2 is optionally substd. alkyl group, Z is alkyl, aryl group or the like, A is O atom or the like, each of W, W1, Y and Y1 is H, halogen atom, alkoxy group or the like, X<-> is an anion and n=1 or 2. When the resulting sensitive material is used, a high contrast photographic image having high sensitivity and high covering power is obtd. |
