1,203,014. Separating straight chain hydrocarbons by adsorption. TEXACO DEVELOPMENT CORP. 21 Feb., 1969 [11 March, 1968], No. 9392/69. Heading B1L. In an isothermal cyclic vapour phase process for separating straight chain hydrocarbons from feedstock mixtures by adsorption on natural or synthetic zeolite molecular sieves, followed by a purge step and desorption, the flow rate of the purge medium is maintained at 50-1000, preferably 170-680, vapour hourly space velocity, the purge medium volume at 0.1-10, preferably 0.2-4, vols. vapour per unit bed volume, and the ratio of the purge medium flow rate to purge medium volume at 40-7000:1, preferably 50-3500:1. The process is particularly applicable to the separation of straight chain hydrocarbons from C 10-15 -kerosene feedstocks using type 5A molecular sieve and using as purge and desorbing medium a fraction consisting predominantly of n-heptane.
|
