<p>PURPOSE:To make an engine size smaller, by setting up a first suction manifold, formed in rectangular parallelopipedic form, and a second suction manifold with two straight pipes in parallel with a crankshaft both superposingly in a valley of cylinder banks of a V-type engine. CONSTITUTION:A first manifold 11, formed in rectangular parallelopipedic form, and a second manifold 17 with two straight pipes in parallel with a crankshaft are superposingly set up in a valley of cylinder banks of a V-type engine. A branch pipe 16 to be connected to a suction port 5 is opened to an outer wall surface of the straight pipe part. An intermediate part of this branch pipe 16 is connected to the first manifold 11 by a bypass pipe 12 with an on-off valve 4. With this constitution, a space in the valley between cylinder banks is effectively utilized, thus dimensions of the engine can be made yet smaller.</p> |
