PURPOSE:To automate preprocessing by drawing the leading edge of a takeup sheet in splicing preparatory position out to a suction box, cutting the triangle, rewinding upon affixing part of a tab to the top, and applying adhesive to the inclined edge. CONSTITUTION:A payoff roll 15 is put in contact with the periphery of a takeup sheet L in the splicing preparatory position. A takeup sheet attraction mechanism 20 provided around the payoff roll 15 is rotated, and the takeup sheet L is attracted by suction caps 23 in longitudinal direction of a bar 22 and drawn out to the space between a lifted nip roll 16 and the payoff roll 15. Then the takeup sheet L is drawn out till a suction hole 31 at the rear face of a suction box 30 provided inclined and cut into a triangle by a cutter 41. An affixing device 50 is rotated round a shaft 51 and part of a tab T is affixed to the top of the triangle, and then the takeup sheet L is rewound, and adhesive is applied to the oblique member of the triangle by the use of a coating device 70. Thereby preprocessing for splicing is automated and the leading edge is cut with precision. |
