PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composition containing highly purified lysozyme or a salt thereof containing no avidin. CONSTITUTION:A medicinal.cosmetic composition obtained by producing lysozyme or a salt thereof from egg white, etc., as follows. Suitably combining methods for homogeneously dispersing the egg white in water under about neutral condition, bringing the resultant dispersion into contact with a weak acidic cation exchange resin to adsorb the lysozyme on the above-mentioned resin, eluting the adsorbed lysozyme with a solution of a suitable salt, then carrying out salting out to take out the lysozyme as crystals, removing impurities with an aqueous solution of salts or water many times in washing operation after bringing the crystals into contact with the weak acidic cation exchange resin to adsorb the lysozyme on the afore-mentioned resin, etc., and containing highly purified lysozyme so as not to substantially contain avidin. Dosage forms of eye drop, injection, nasal drop, suppository, tablet, capsule agent, etc., are cited as the medicine exhibiting pharmacological action, e.g. anti-inframmatory, anticonjunctivitis, hemostatic, antiviral action, etc. |
