摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To improve the steering feeling by controlling the transmission torque capacity of a clutch so that a larger steering assisting force acts onto a steering operating power transmission shaft as the ratio of increase of the detected torque is larger. CONSTITUTION:A controller 60 judges the high speed traveling from the signal of a car speed sensor 64, and detects the torque of a steering main shaft 12 and the steering direction of a steering wheel 10 from the signal of a torque sensor 66. During the high speed traveling or straight advance, an electric motor 38 is brought into stop, and an electromagnetic powder clutch 28 is turned-OFF. During the low speed traveling, the electric motor 38 is driven through a polarity selector 52 when the right or left turn of the steering wheel 10 is detected, and at the same time, the duty ratio electric current corresponding to the rate of increase of the detected torque is allowed to flow in the electromagnetic powder clutch 28, and the assisting force corresponding to the transmission torque capacity of the clutch is transmitted to the steering main shaft 12. Therefore, the superior steering feeling can be obtained.</p>
