PURPOSE:To simultaneously convert a character string in which a KATAKANA (square form of Japanese syllabary) notation part and a HIRAGANA (round form of Japanese syllabary) notation part are mixed by leaving a final character to a specified character in the form of the HIRAGANA as it is and converting a residual part to the KATAKANA when the specified character is included in the inputted character string. CONSTITUTION:For instance, the character string 'wa-pro no yona (Japanese syllabary)' is inputted from an input part 11, a KATAKANA converting key is depressed and stored in a reading buffer 12. The character string stored in the buffer 12 is reversely retrieved from the final character forward in a HIRAGANA decision part 13. A prepared attached word dictionary table is referred to decide the characters of 'na yona' to be the character string to be noted by the HIRAGANA of the attached word and store is a HIRAGANA storing part 14. The decision part 13 feeds a residual character string 'wa-pro' to a KATAKANA converting processing part 15 to convert to 'WA-PRO' in the processing part 15 and feed to a character string forming part 16. In the forming part 16, this 'WA-PRO', character string is synthesized with a character string 'yona' of the storing part 14 to display 'WA-PRO no yona' in a display part 17.
