<p>A clarification plant for purifying organic waste water contains a tank (1) with inlet (10), outlet (12) and drain (11) for the excess sludge. A contact aerator (2.1, 2.2, 2.3) which is divided into zones and consists of a plurality of individual aerators as rubble is located in the tank (1) which is designed to have the minimum surface area per unit volume. A gas-introduction system (3.2) is located in the region of the funnel-shaped tank base (9). The tank contents (6) are circulated by pumping through a line (4.1, 4.2) with incorporated pump (5) in the opposite direction to the ascending gas bubbles from the gas-introduction system (3.2). A probe pipe (20) with measuring probe (21) which is displaceable therein allows the processes taking place in the individual contact aerator zones (2.1, 2.2, 2.3) to be checked. It is possible, by a suitable adjustment of the amount of gas, the flow rate of the waste water and the flow resistance in the contact aerator, to set up different conditions, e.g. aerobic, facultative and/or anaerobic, in the individual zones (2.1, 2.2, 2.3) of the contact aerator (2).</p> |
