Cephalosporins, penicillins and cyclohexadienyl alkanoic acids. Title cpds. (I) and (II) useful as antibiotics and cpds. (III) as anti-inflammatory agents: (where R1 and R2 are 1-6C alkyl; R3 is H, OH, acyloxy or N-pyridinium and n is 1-6) are prepd. by reacting 6-APA or 7-ACA with a deriv. of (III) and by Birch reduction of a phenylalkanoic acid as appropriate.
