PURPOSE:To attain rapid interruption of incident light and to speed up the response of a light quantity control function to an input signal by moving a previously formed bubble in a solution at the time of interrupting incident light by the existence of the bubble. CONSTITUTION:Plural transparent heat generating elements 6 for interrupting/ transmitting incident light in accordance with the existence of a bubble are arranged in a row direction and plural heat generating elements 2 suppressing the transmission of incident light independently of the existence of a bubble which corresponds to the elements 6 in the column direction are arrayed in a column direction in parallel with the strings of the transparent elements 6 so as to. A bubble is generated on the elements 2 by previously supplying current to the elements 2, the bubble is made to rest while holding its format, and when a signal interrupting light is inputted among certain picture element signals, current is supplied to the elements 6. Thus, incident light can be quickly interrupted by moving the bubble corresponding to the column direction to the elements 6.
