PURPOSE:To obtain high-purity silicic acid in high yield, by melting quartz rock or silica sand fed to a melting furnace under heating and continuously drawing silicic acid in a molten state from the melting furnace while finely vibrating the melting furnace. CONSTITUTION:A melting furnace 1 lined with zirconia brick 3 as lining refractory is charged with quartz rock or silica sand as a raw material. Then the quartz rock or the silica sand is heated by a combustion gas jetted through a hole 5 from a burner 4, melted into molten silicic acid 8 and continuously drawn in a beltlike state through an outlet 6 by a drawing device 7 to give a product silicic acid 8'. During the operation, the furnace 1 is finely vibrated in the horizontal direction by two vibration generating machines 9 attached to outer sides of the furnace 1 at symmetrical positions. By the vibration, small gap is produced between the inner face of the zirconia brick 3 of the lining refractory of the furnace 1 and the molten silicic acid 8 in the furnace 1. Consequently, the brick is rubbed and taken out by the molten silicic acid 8 and the brick can be prevented from attaching itself to the outer peripheral surface of the product 8'.
