PURPOSE:To facilitate the mounting of a ribbon cassette, by forming ribbon insert parts to a ribbon cassette case on both sides thereof and providing an arm protruding to the outside to one side thereof to form a space part surrounding a printing element. CONSTITUTION:A square hollow arm 26 communicating with an insert part 19 at the base part thereof and opened at the leading end thereof is formed to one side of a cassette case 25 and a roller 27 is held to the leading end of the arm 26 in a freely rotatable manner. In this constitution, a thermal head 5 is levitated from a platen 2 and the cassette case 25 is mounted to a side plate 1. The thermal head 5 and a cam 7 are received in a space part 29 and the route of a ribbon 17 is linearily held between rollers 20, 27 and, therefore, the ribbon 17 can be passed between the platen 2 and the thermal head 5 without being caught by obstacles.t.
