A method for operating an oil burner, in particular a waste-oil burner, is described, in which an oil-air emulsion fed to the nozzle under pressure is formed by means of an injector or compressor and the oil-air emulsion formed by the compressor is returned to the storage tank when the burner is switched off, forming a loop.
