An apparatus by which unusable concrete elements can be economically destroyed and the reinforcement exposed in the process with the concrete pieces and fragments being available for further use, the apparatus comprising two steel plates (1, 2) situated opposite each other and fitted with vibrators (5) at the rear, the distance between the plates being made variable by means of a hydraulic system (6). One of the two steel plates having spikes (3) so arranged to form a convexity, the other steel plate being provided with spikes (3) forming a corresponding concavity. The steel spikes on one steel plate being staggered in relation to those on the other. Apertures (4) in the steel plates corresponding to the opposed steel spikes enable the distance between the two plates to be reduced to a very small gap. The bending, vibration and pressure acting on the concrete element situated between the steel plates effects total destruction and the reinforcement present therein is exposed. <IMAGE>
