PURPOSE:To enable a vehicle to perform its operation of comfortable and efficient running, by parallelly arranging a stepped transmission mechanism and a continuously variable transmission mechanism and enabling either of both the mechanisms to be alternatively used. CONSTITUTION:A vehicle, which arranges an output shaft 30 on the same straight line to an input shaft 12 while a stepped transmission mechanism B and a continuously variable transmission mechanism A parallelly between the input shaft 12 and the output shaft 30, provides the first-fourth clutches 72, 74, 76, 78 in such a manner as unable to relatively rotate further able to move in the axial direction. In this way, the vehicle, which enables either the stopped transmission mechanism B or the continuously variable transmission mechanism A to be alternatively used, can perform the operation of comfortable and efficient running by utilizing a speed change shift suitable for a running condition as necessary.
